2015 Community Health Needs Assessment

2015 Community Health Assessment

What is a Community Health Assessment?

The 2015 Community Health Assessment, a follow-up to similar studies conducted in 2002, 2007 and 2012, is a systematic, data-driven approach to determining the health status, behaviors and needs of residents in Scott County, Iowa, and Rock Island County, Illinois. The Community Health Assessment looks at all aspects of health. Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (World Health Organization). The Community Health Assessment evaluates the level of health in a community. A healthy community is one that continuously creates and improves both its physical and social environments, helping people to support one another in aspects of daily life and to develop to their fullest potential (US Department of Health and Human Services, Healthy People 2020).

Where can it be read?

All documents produced as part of the 2015 Quad Cities Community Health Assessment process are available for review online at www.quadcities.healthforecast.net.

How do I read it?

In the charts, Quad Cities Area results are shown in the larger, blue column.

The green columns to the left of the Quad Cities Area column provide comparisons between Rock Island County, IL and Scott County, IA identifying differences for each as "better than" (favorable), "worse than" (unfavorable), or "similar to" (similar) the opposing county. These differences are signified with the images shown below.

cha indicators

The columns to the right of the Quad Cities Area column provide trending, as well as comparisons between local data and any available state and national findings, and Healthy People 2020 targets. Again, symbols indicate how the Quad Cities Area compares to these external data.

Note that blank table cells signify that data are not available or are not reliable for that area and/or for that indicator.
